St. Xavier captured the OHSAA Southwest District Boys Division I Championship on Monday at Heatherwoode Golf Club, posting a team score of 290 to win by 15 strokes and secure the program's fifth consecutive trip to the State Championship.

Ninety-six golfers competed on Heatherwoode's 6,552-yard, par-71 layout under bright skies and outstanding fall conditions. Moeller finished second with a 305, while Lakota East claimed the third and final team berth with a 307. Elder narrowly missed advancing, finishing one stroke back at 308.
St. Xavier senior Jax Denton and Loveland junior Casey Kopecky shared medalist honors with 2-under-par rounds of 69. Denton's score led a balanced St. Xavier lineup that also received a 71 from sophomore Zac McGrath and a 72 from senior Patrick Paquette.
Kopecky earned the first individual State berth, while Bellbrook senior Brody Seitz advanced with an even-par 71. Milford junior Brock Shuluga and Beavercreek senior Jack Faulkner each shot 72, requiring a playoff for the final qualifying position. Shuluga prevailed on the third playoff hole to secure his trip to State.
The 96-player field averaged 82.23, or 11.23 strokes over par, with a median score of 82. Golfers recorded one eagle, 129 birdies, 770 pars, 563 bogeys, 187 double bogeys and 78 scores of triple bogey or higher. Overall, 52.1% of all holes were played in par or better.
The par-4 second and 15th holes shared the distinction as the most difficult, each playing to a 4.95 average. The par-3 12th was the easiest relative to par at 3.23 and produced 14 birdies.
The par-5 fourth yielded a field-high 25 birdies and the championship's only eagle-or-better score. The back nine played 0.60 strokes more difficult relative to par than the front nine.
St. Xavier, Moeller, Lakota East, Casey Kopecky, Brody Seitz and Brock Shuluga will represent the Southwest District at the OHSAA Boys Division I State Championship on October 12-13 at NCR Country Club.
