Two seasons of eligibility. Two Senior Player of the Year awards.
Peter Samborsky II has been named Miami Valley Golf’s 2026 Senior Player of the Year, finishing with 400 points to claim the age 50-and-over division for the second consecutive season.
Three-time Senior Player of the Year Pete Betzold finished second with 315 points, while Ryan Reichley placed third with 225.
The recognition marks Samborsky’s fifth Miami Valley Golf Player of the Year honor overall. His consecutive Senior awards follow overall Player of the Year titles in 2006, 2007 and 2019.
A five-time Metropolitan champion, Samborsky added the Senior Metropolitan title to his résumé at Dayton Country Club this season. Consecutive rounds of 69 produced a 138 total, earning him both the Senior and Mid-Amateur Metropolitan championships. He became the first senior to win both championships in the same year since Dan DeVore in 2016.

Senior Player of the Year points are not limited to Senior events. Eligible senior players also receive credit for qualifying performances in designated non-senior competitions. His top-20 finish at U.S. Senior Open Final Qualifying followed a 2025 season in which he advanced all the way to the national championship. His Senior Metropolitan victory has already secured an exemption into Final Qualifying for the 2027 U.S. Senior Open, providing another opportunity to return.
