- Congratulations to our two qualifiers who have secured their places in the 123rd US Amateur Championship at Cherry Hills Country Club & Colorado Golf Club.  

It seems to be an annual tradition that a playoff decides the final position(s) in our qualifier.  This year was no different, as there were two players tied at four under par after 36 holes over the Moraine Links.   Solomon Petrie captured the final position with a birdie on the first playoff hole over his fellow Kentucky Wildcat Teammate Alex Goff.  It’s worth noting that Solomon roared back from a first round 73 with a double bogey on his first hole to tie for the final qualifying position. Playing his final 27 holes nine under par, as will as playing his last 5 holes, including the birdie on the playoff hole 4 under par.

Our medalist was Collin Adams who finished the day at five under par.  Collin, from Charlotte NC, plays for the Wake Forest Deamon Deacons

• Davis Gochenouer made a Hole in One on #15.

• The two 65's, One in the morning round by Alex Goff and one in the afternoon round by Solomon Petrie set the low score mark for US Am Q's at Moraine CC and ties the Dayton Area Qualifier low score with three 65's that where shot in 2016 at Dayton Country Club.

• The hardest Holes was #17 which is turned into a Par 4 for the Qualifier, followed closely by #14 and #2.  The easiest hole was Hole #6, the par four played at just under par for both rounds.  The first round played slightly harder at 76.84 for all the contestants in the field as compared to the second-round average of 76.72.

Thanks to the hard-working turf staff at Moraine Country Club, led by Superintendent Phil Stiver, for continuously preparing and maintaining a great conditioned course for the qualifier.
