![]() Windy Knoll last hosted the Metropolitan in 2010, when Jeff Scohy claimed the title by two strokes. He finished 4-under par over four rounds, edging out Michael Bernard (2009 Champion) at 2-under and Ryan Bowen, recently retired Cedarville University Golf Coach, who finished at 1-under. (For Scores from 2010) PAST CHAMPIONS IN THE FIELD Several former champions are scheduled to compete, including: · Jeff Scohy – 2010 Champion · Bryce Haney – 2021 Champion · Pete Samborsky – 5-time Metropolitan Champion Tyler Goecke, last year's champion, is not in the field, having recently turned professional and currently competing on the Americas Tour, a circuit comparable to AA-level baseball in professional golf. The youngest player in the field is Jackson Faulkner, an incoming junior at Beavercreek High School—61 years younger than the oldest competitor, Gordon Willins, our 2007 Senior Player of the Year. A beloved figure in the golf community, Gordon is known for playing nearly every day at his home course, Heatherwoode Golf Club, and for competing in nearly every available tournament in the area. The Metropolitan Champion will earn a coveted spot in the 125th U.S. Amateur Championship at The Olympic Club in San Francisco (August 11–17, 2025) and receive an exemption into the 2026 Ohio Amateur Championship. Additionally, the top three finishers and ties will advance to Final Qualifying for the 2026 U.S. Amateur. TOURNAMENT FORMAT The 103rd Champion will be decided over 72 holes of stroke play, weather permitting. After the first 36 holes, the field will be cut to the top 32 players and ties for the final two rounds. · Tee times begin each day at 7:30 a.m., with leaders going off last. · First-round pairings and starting times will be released shortly. ABOUT THE COURSE Windy Knoll Golf Club blends its heritage as a former horse farm with a modern links-style layout. Designed by Brian Huntley and opened in the early 2000s, the course features thoughtful architecture and maintains strong public appeal in Central Ohio. For the Championship, the course will play as a par 71 and measure approximately 6,600 yards. |
