- Meadow Tian of Delaware, OH captured the 103rd Ohio Women's Amateur Championship on Friday, July 17, at Moraine Country Club, defeating Addison Kartusch of Bowling Green, OH 3 & 2 in the 36-hole championship match to claim Ohio's most prestigious women's amateur title.

The championship returned to Moraine Country Club for the first time in nearly a century. Following 36 holes of stroke-play qualifying, the field was reduced to the low 32 players, who advanced to a seeded match-play bracket based on their stroke-play qualifying scores. Tian ultimately emerged as champion after winning five consecutive matches.

Kartusch led the stroke play qualifying after the opening round with a 1-under-par 71, the only sub-par round of the day. Tian was just one shot back after an even-par 72. During the second qualifying round, Tian fired a 2-under-par 70 to move into solo second place and earn the No. 2 seed for match play, while Kartusch's 74 placed her fifth in the seeding. Four match-play victories later, the pair advanced to the 36-hole championship match.

The final proved to be a back-and-forth battle from the start. Tian seized the early momentum by winning the 3rd, 4th and 5th holes to build a 3-up lead. Kartusch responded by winning three holes over the remainder of the first nine to square the match before the turn.

Tian again pulled ahead by winning holes 10, 11 and 12 to restore a 3-up lead, but Kartusch refused to back down, capturing holes 13, 14 and 15 to once again level the match. Tian claimed the 17th hole to take a 1-up lead heading into the final 18.

The afternoon round continued the dramatic exchange until Tian produced the defining stretch of the championship. Victories on the 24th (6th), 25th (7th) and 27th (9th) holes allowed her to build a strong 3-up lead heading into the final nine holes.

Kartusch continued to battle, but Tian never surrendered control. A birdie on the 28th (10th) hole extended the margin to 4-up, and although Kartusch answered with a birdie on the 33rd (15th), Tian closed out the match on the 34th hole for a 3 & 2 victory.

The victory capped an outstanding week for Tian, who successfully navigated two rounds of stroke-play qualifying and five rounds of match play to earn the Governors Trophy. Kartusch also enjoyed an exceptional championship, advancing through a talented field to reach the 36-hole final before finishing as runner-up.

Tian is no stranger to golf's bigger stages. She is a member of Team Ohio through the U.S. National Development Program (USNDP). She is also a three-time AJGA champion, the 2025 Ohio Junior Girls Champion, and the 2025 OHSAA Division I State Champion while competing for Olentangy High School. This fall, Tian will begin her collegiate golf career at the University of Illinois.

Along with Tian's victory in the Ohio Women's Amateur Championship, she earned a spot in the 2026 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee, on August 4-9.
