NCR’s Stein and Tabar Win U.S. Doubles Golf National Title

Susie Stein and Julie Tabar of NCR Country Club won the Women’s Division title at the 2026 U.S. Doubles Golf National Championship at The Bear’s Club in Jupiter, Florida.

The pair completed 27 holes at 2-under-par 106 in the championship, which concluded on Tuesday, October 27. Following their victory, they joined Jack Nicklaus for a photo with their trophies (pictured).

Stein and Tabar qualified through Miami Valley Golf at the Allied Golf Association level before winning the Ohio State Championship, hosted at their home club, NCR Country Club. That victory earned them a place in the national championship field representing Ohio.

At The Bear’s Club, they posted nine-hole scores of 34, 37 and 35. Their 106 total matched that of runners-up Diane Fortin and Gay Shackelford of the Carolinas, with Stein and Tabar winning in a playoff. Anongrak Baffi and Denise Gelfand, representing the Metropolitan Golf Association (New York), finished third at 1-under-par 107.

Doubles Golf emphasizes teamwork and strategy. Both partners hit each shot, select the ball they prefer, and then both play from that location. The process continues until the ball is holed, allowing both players to contribute throughout the round.

The national championship brought together amateur teams from across the country. For Stein and Tabar, the title capped a season that took them from qualifying through Miami Valley Golf to the Ohio State Championship at NCR and a national championship in Florida.
