The Senior Metropolitan and Mid-Amateur Championship for the Miami Valley is coming up on September 8 & 9 at Piqua Country Club. This Donald Ross designed beauty will provide a wonderful experience for all those entered. Tee Times will start at 8am on both Thursday and Friday. Don’t miss your chance to play! The deadline is Friday September 2nd.

Want to know more about the 120 competitors in the field for the US Senior Women’s Open?
To start with, there are eight, World Golf Hall of Fame members, 10, US Women’s Open Champions, three, US Senior Women’s Open Champions, 37 Amateurs in the field, three golfers from Ohio, Competitors from 10 different countries and the oldest competitor is 83 years young. You may carry mobile devices smaller than 7" in length and/ or height, including cellphones and smartphones. All device volume controls must be set to “silent” or “vibrate” at all times. Video and audio recording are not permitted at any time with any device. Texting and email are permissible throughout all areas of the golf course, but should not disrupt players. |
DDWGA FALL CLASSIC DEADLINE NEARS |
Don’t miss your chance to gather three of your friends for a fun day of golf at Walnut Grove Country Club for the final DDWGA event of the 2022 season when the Annual Fall Classic is held on Monday, August 29th.
The format of play is 18 Holes, of 1 Net and 1 Gross Better Ball Play and play will begin with a 1pm shotgun start. Teams consisting of four ladies representing the same club will be competing for an extra prize: a traveling trophy to be displayed at their club for the next year. For More Details or to register |
How did our Our Locals Do at the US Amateur? |
Unfortunately, our area golfers did not make it out of the Stroke Play field into the 64-person match play. Jordan Gilkison was the closest to making the +5 playoff for the final positions in Match Play finishing at +7 for the 36 Hole Qualifying Portion of the Championship. At +9 was Domenic Maricocchi and Austin Greaser. Justin Horn, our second-place finisher in this year’s Metropolitan and Colin Laszlo who resides in Springfield and is a past MVGA Intern finished at +18.
The final 36 Hole Match of the 122nd US Amateur will take place this Sunday and be televised on the Golf Channel at 2pm To Visit the US Amateur Website |

The 28th Playing of the Miami Valley Team Invitational will take place on Thursday, September 15th at Troy Country Club and will get underway with the Better Ball Format at 10am. Foursomes (Alt Shot) and Singles follow in this eight-person team event. The defending champion is Sycamore Creek CC

Course Renovation Seminar |
A half-day seminar to provide golf course decision makers the information and tools they need to plan and execute a successful course renovation will be held September 28 at Westwood Country Club in Rocky River, Ohio. Conducted by the Northern Ohio Golf Association, United States Golf Association (USGA) and American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA), the seminar will help facilities get the most out of on-going and upcoming renovation projects.
