Final Qualifier Set for Piqua Country Club |
A total of 2,585 players entered the championship, with 281 exempted directly into Final Qualifying. At the Piqua site, 11 players are exempt from local qualifying. The 46-player field is evenly split between 23 professionals and 23 amateurs. Tee times begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue through 11:00 a.m. Players will compete on a layout playing to a par 72 and measuring approximately 6,500 yards. For logistical reasons, the front and back nines will be reversed for the qualifier. 35 players in the field earned their spots through local qualifying events, including the nearest one on May 5 at Worthington Hills Country Club in Columbus. Players with ties to the Miami Valley area who qualified there include: Sam Arnold Only four players from Monday’s field will advance to the U.S. Senior Open Championship, which takes place June 26–29 at the East Course at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado. |
