Rules & Competitions Assist in the organization and administration of tournaments, including DDWGA, MVM, MVGA and United States Golf Association sponsored events. - Preparation of tournament reports, official score cards, local rules, hole locations, scoreboards, and rules official assignments. Receive on-site experience during Association tournaments. - Preparation of tournament site, including course marking and set-up, tents, scoreboards, tournament office, and other equipment. - Working with the volunteer committee members prior to and throughout an event. Assist with data entry, specifically tournament real-time scoring (USGA Tournament Management Software powered by Golf Genius). Course Rating Assist in measuring member courses in preparation for re-rating. Provide on-site support in organizing and coordinating course rating teams to re-rate member clubs. Communications Assist the with media and public relations tasks as needed. Handicapping & Membership Assist with the annual renewal of memberships, including processing new individual applications and reinstatements received from member clubs. Assist in responding to inquiries regarding handicap record information and handicap procedures. *Additional experience will be offered with other administrative responsibilities as schedules permit throughout the term Qualifications Applicants must have a high interest in golf administration, verbal and written communication skills, highly organized, and proficiency with MS Office programs. A background in the game of golf and rules of golf knowledge is also beneficial. Not eligible for consideration are MVGA/USGA employees, officials, their relatives, or past USGA grant recipients. Hours Full-time, if available; otherwise, part-time (will work around class schedule) during school and full time other times. Candidates should occasionally be prepared to work long hours during the season with early morning and late evening hours. Transportation and Housing Intern must arrange for housing in the Dayton, OH area and provide own automotive transportation. Intern will be reimbursed for all related expenses when traveling on Association business and will be reimbursed for the use of personal automobile while on official business. Compensation This is a paid position with an opening hourly wage starting at $17.50 per hour. Office Attire Intern will be expected to wear casual, neat, business-type attire for all office responsibilities. MVGA attire will be supplied for tournament work.
