| Record Scores Set the Stage for Dramatic Final Round |
This year, through three rounds, both Ben Cors and T.J. Kreusch have already reached 18-under-par—matching the previous record and setting up a potentially historic finish. The final round begins Sunday at 7:30 a.m., with the final group teeing off at 9:10 a.m. Cors and Kreusch will be joined by Luke Metzger, who fired a 63 in the third round to tie the former course record. That record, originally set by Andy Miller in 2005, was broken earlier today when Cors shot a 62 as the final group completed their second round just after 7 a.m. Miller’s 63 had been tied seven times before Cors’ round—once in Round 1 by Cors, Kreusch, Jonathan Feldkamp, and Mitchell Sargent; in Round 2 by Metzger and Will Jackson; and again today by Metzger. Cors’ opening rounds of 63 and 62 give him a remarkable 125 total over two rounds, and Metzger’s 63 keeps him well in contention. The surge in low scores can be attributed to ideal playing conditions—calm winds, smooth greens, and receptive turf thanks to recent rainfall. Spectators are welcome to attend. |
