| Our Golf Course Superintendents |
- As another golf season passes Labor Day, it’s important to pause and recognize the people who make the game possible every day—our golf course superintendents.Challenging Conditions in the Miami ValleyThis year has tested every superintendent in our region. From a cool, damp spring that delayed turf growth and stressed early-season conditions, to a hot, wet summer that brought heavy disease pressure and excessive wear, the challenges have been relentless. Through it all, superintendents and their crews have worked tirelessly to keep courses as playable as possible. Now, with cooler overnight lows and drier weather patterns arriving, many courses across the Miami Valley are finally seeing opportunities for recovery. Never has it been more critical to aerify and provide turf with the rejuvenation it needs. These recovery practices will not only help finish this season strong but also lay the foundation for a successful 2026 season. A Global Celebration of SuperintendentsFor the fifth year, golf course superintendents will be honored worldwide on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, as part of “Thank a Golf Course Superintendent Day.” This international effort is supported by the GCSAA and global partners representing more than 31,000 golf course management professionals in 78 countries. How You Can Show AppreciationOn September 9, we encourage everyone in the Miami Valley—golfers, club members, staff, and friends of the game—to take a moment to personally thank your superintendent and course maintenance staff. A handshake, a note, or even a quick social media post using the campaign hashtags can go a long way in showing appreciation for their hard work and dedication. In ClosingThe game of golf simply does not happen without superintendents. Their expertise, resilience, and passion carry our courses through the toughest conditions and ensure that future seasons remain bright. This year, more than ever, let’s join the global golf community in saying: Thank you, Superintendents. |
