- BEAVERCREEK, OH – August 29, 2025 — The curtain starts to comes down on the Miami Valley golf season as the area’s final multi-round championship tees off today, Tuesday, September 2, at the Jack Nicklaus–designed Country Club of the North. A deep and decorated field featuring a record number of past champions will compete across four divisions in what promises to be a great championship.

Opening Groups Highlight Defending Champions

The championship will get underway at 8:00 a.m. with a high-profile grouping that brings together three proven winners:

• Jeff Schohy, five-time and defending Mid-Amateur Champion
• Peter Samborsky II, two-time Mid-Amateur Champion
• Matt Dippold, 2020 Mid-Amateur Champion

The final group of the opening round will begin at 1:40 p.m., led by the defending Senior Metropolitan Champion, Brian Bair alongside 2023 Senior Champion Andy Boedecker and three-time Champion Pete Betzold.

Record Number of Past Champions

This year’s field boasts the largest concentration of past champions in event history, including:

• Skip Snow (two-time Champion)
• Curt Cranmer (2021 Champion)
• Doug Gage (2005 Champion)
• Dan Devore (three-time Mid-Amateur Champion and one-time overall Champion)
• Tim Sorrows (four-time Champion)

Their presence ensures a championship atmosphere from the opening tee shot to the final putt.

Divisional Play and Course Setup

Competition will be conducted across four divisions with course setups tailored to age brackets:

• Mid-Amateur & Senior Metropolitan – approx. 6,600 yards
• 65–74 Division – approx. 6,200 yards
• 75+ Division – approx. 5,500 yards

After the first round, groupings and tee times will be re-done within each division, with higher scores going out first.
