Wright State Picks Up Another Team & Individual Title |
The Wright State team has traveled and competed with the same five guys basically all year long. Tyler Goecke, Bryce Haney, Cole Corder, Mikkel Mathiesen, and Davis Root have all now collected medalist honors apart of their many team wins. Davis Root, a senior from Dublin, OH picked up his first collegiate win this past weekend carding a 36-hole score of even par. He made four straight birdies in his final round on his way to a 2 shot victory over teammate Mikkel Mathiesen. Mikkel Mathiesen, a junior from Esbjerg, Denmark also picked up an individual title this fall at the Valpo Invite at Sand Creek Country Club in Valparaiso, IN. Mathiesen has had success since his freshman season at Wright State and looks to continue that for at least one more year. Bryce Haney, a graduate student from Huber Heights won the Dayton Flyer Invitational in October after carding a 54 hole score of 4-under par at the tough NCR South Course. Bryce also won MVGA's Metropolitan Championship this summer, Tyler Goecke, a junior from Xenia, has put together a record-setting season this year. While leading the Raiders in scoring average, Goecke has collected three individual titles this season. In the fall, Tyler won at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invite carding a 54 hole score of 8-under par. Most recently, Tyler won the the UNCW Seahawk Intercollegiate also by carding a 54 hole score of 8-under par. Rounding out the group is Cole Corder, a senior from Powell, OH collected his individual win this year at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invite by carding a 54 hole score of 10-under par, earning him the win by 4 strokes. Corder also set a tournament record by carding an 8-under par round of 62 in the first round. |
