- Earlier this week, I had the chance to tee it up with Marissa Wenzler and her older brother Ryan—and let me tell you, they both hit absolute bombs. It was a great reminder of just how much talent this family brings to the game and how exciting it is to follow Marissa’s journey.
From Centerville to the Professional RanksMany of us in the Miami Valley golf community have been following Marissa’s career for years. A graduate of Centerville High School and the University of Kentucky, she announced herself on the national stage by winning the 2021 Women’s Western Amateur Championship. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Finance and master’s degree in Kinesiology, she turned professional in 2024 and now competes on the Epson Tour. Ryan’s Golf Journey
Marissa’s brother, Ryan, has an impressive golf background of his own. He began his career at Wright State, then spent three years playing professionally before moving into the golf education side of the game, where he focused on teaching and growing the sport. More recently, he returned to the Miami Valley to work in the family business, while staying connected to both the game and the community. His experience and insight now make him a valuable part of Marissa’s team. Building Her Own PathMarissa has also been steadily building her presence online, with more than 50,000 Instagram followers and nearly 20,000 on TikTok. Her content gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at life on tour—from travel to practice routines to the highs and lows of competition. Unlike many golf influencers who lean mainly on lifestyle content, Marissa shares the real grind of being a touring professional, which makes her story all the more relatable. Why It Matters LocallyWhile she may not yet have the massive following of some of the sport’s biggest social media names, Marissa is carving out her own lane—as a competitor, as a content creator, and as a role model for young golfers in our area. Watching her career unfold, and now having the chance to share a round with both her and Ryan, really drives home how bright her future looks both on the course and off it.
