 Our Senior Player of the Year won this years Senior Metropolitan Championship at Troy Country Club by one shot over David Clancy and Michael Greenwood with rounds of 71 & 72. Rob Karnes, PGA - SOPGA Golf Professional of the Year |

After 30 years as a Golf Professional, Rob Karnes, PGA is still as excited and energetic about promoting the game as he was on his first day in the industry. Although he worked at his family’s 9-hole public golf course growing up in Montpelier, OH, Karnes officially became an Associate in 1991. Since his election to PGA Membership, Karnes has been a Member of the Northern Ohio Section and the Michigan Section before settling in the Southern Ohio Section in 2013. Throughout his career, Karnes has been focused on gaining knowledge and experience required to be a well-rounded professional. His passion for directing an operation that excels in all areas has pushed him to never stop learning and seeking out new opportunities for mentoring, networking, and personal growth. Karnes is currently the Director of Golf at NCR Country Club. He was previously the Head Professional at Dayton Country Club from 2013 to 2019. For More |
High School State Golf Championships Update |
This week sees the Girls and the Boys DI Schools competing in the State Championship at OSU Golf Club. The Girls are playing the Gray Course and the Boys are playing the Scarlet Course.
Girls Teams competing from our general area are Mason & Centerville and after the first round Mason is in the lead and Centerville is 4 back in the tightly contested Team Division. Competing as individuals is Lily Middleton from Wilmington whose 1st round score of 75 has here tied for 16th place and Kenna Jenkinson from Greenville and her first round of 76 has her in a tie for 18th To See DI Girls Scores In the boys division those from our General Area are Mason and Lakota East. After the first round Mason sits in 5th position and Lakota East sits in 6th position. We had one individual qualify, Andrew Magill from Bellbrook HS and he is in 50th position after an opening round 83 on the Scarlet Course. To See DI Boys Scores The second and final round will tee off this morning at 9am, follow the links above for life scoring and thanks to our Volunteers from the Miami Valley and from the Columbus area for making the live scoring possible.
Last week saw the Smaller Schools Compete for their State Championship. Alter finished in Second Place in the State DII Boys Championship at Northstar. In addition to their State Runner up Finish, they also when their GCL Title, won their Sectional & District, had 6 tournament wins, 4 tournament runner ups, Finished top 3, in 15/16 tournaments their played in this season and broke 300 14 times (Top 4 Scores of 5 player team). A Good Year for Sure!
For DII Boys Scores at State In the Girls DII, the ladies from Middletown Bishop Fenwick finished in 5th position and the ladies from Fort Loramie finished in 7th. Recently the world of golf has been focused on the age of Bryson DeChambeau and his quest for distance off the tee and extending his reach as far as possible. He showed his prowess at Winged Foot, the Ryder Cup with a 417 yard drive and then entering the Professional Long Drivers Association World Championship where he finished seventh with a drive of 406 yards.

COLLEGE CORNER 
Isaak Ramsey and Caleb Stimmel earned All-America honors and the Yellow Jackets took second place in the NCCAA Men's Golf Championship. Asbury won the nine-team event with 304-305-309-918 at the Hammock Beach Resort Ocean Course with Cedarville next at 310-302-313-925. It was the highest NCCAA finish for the Yellow Jackets in 17 appearances.
 The Wright State golf team closed out its fall schedule with its fourth consecutive team title as the Raiders captured the Flyer Invitational at NCR Country Club this past Tuesday. In addition to the team title, Bryce Haney, our 2021 Metropolitan Champion won the top individual honors, becoming the fourth different Raider to record an individual win this fall. Wright State led by 13 strokes after Monday's opening two rounds, and the 54 holes with an 848 total, four-under final scorecard, with Horizon League foe Youngstown State the closest competition at 18-over with an 870 team score in second place.  The University of Dayton women's golf team claimed sixth place at the Dayton Flyer Invitational Tuesday in its fall schedule finale. Sophomore Sarah O'Connor led the team with an eighth-place finish. UIndy claimed the top team title with a score 291-298=589 (+29) and Ohio State's Alexis Phadungmartvorakul won medalist honors with her score of 67-72=139 (-1). Dayton turned in a team score of 311-306=617 (+57). For More The Men's Team closed out their fall season by hosting their Flyer Invitational this past week.  The Wittenberg men's and women's hosted the Wittenberg Fall Classic at Springfield Country Club this past Sunday and Monday. The Tiger men's squad secured the top spot, with the first-place finish out of 10 teams amongst the field. The Wittenberg women's team saw Ellen Frame grab the individual medalist honors, as the Tiger women's squad placed fourth amongst five teams.
