Follow Along the Road to State |
Many golfers mention that fall, with its cooler nights and brisk morning temperatures is their favorite golf time of year. While that may not be true for all golfers, it certainly is for high school golfers. This week, The Road to the State Golf Championships got underway as many of our local schools took part in Sectional Qualifiers in the hopes of advancing through to District and ultimately to the State Finals later in October. While the Road to the State requires just two rounds, it is filled with strong competition as the Southwest Region, One of Six Across the State, boast an abundance of powerful teams and individuals in all five divisions (Two Girls and Three Boys). Locally there are 16 Sectional sites that see the top four teams, and the top four individuals not on a qualifying team, advancing to the five districts. All team scores are determined by using the 4 lowest scores of the 5 players on the team. You can stay abreast of the local results by visiting www.ohsaa-golf.org |
Scott Harman Memorial Event |
Monday, October 11, 2021, NCR Country Club |
Scott Michael “Scotty” Harman touched more lives in his 20 years than most of us do in 80. His smiling enthusiasm charmed us. His passion for life and sports inspired us and his gift for reaching out to young and old, made so many of us feel connected to him. For More.. |
Touch Your Toes? |
We often associate the inability to touch our toes with tight hamstrings. While the Toe Touch Test is a great test for overall mobility in the spine and hamstrings, it can also help identify a hip problem versus a lower back/core limitation. We aren’t just looking for whether or not you can touch your toes. We also want to see your ability to demonstrate good hip hinge or forward bend. This range of motion is important for golfers because any restriction in hip hinge mechanics can lead to poor address and dynamic posture. Players will tend to get too rounded from the spine or have excessive knee bend to make up for limited hip bend. For More.. |
