First Masters Event on Monday |
 Monday sees the first Miami Valley Masters Event of the Season at Troy CC. The Individual Stroke Play event with get underway with a 1pm Shotgun Start. There will be no lunch available prior to the round but Dinner and Awards will follow play. There are 10 flights of play with ages ranging from 50 to 90 years young in this season opening event.

Jasper Hills To Open May 21st |
 After permanently closing in 2017, the former Sebastian Hills Golf Club will reopen under new ownership on May 21st. Xenia residents Dalton and Melissa Dodd purchased the 165-acre property in mid-September, and through hard work, determination, and help from neighbors and friends have the property ready to open later this Month. “We wanted to provide that asset to the community, especially because of the pandemic, it’s safe outdoor recreation,” Dodd said. “And the property is so beautiful, we want people to be able to enjoy it.” To Read More... |

Spring BB at NCR CC Recap |
Four Division Winners were determined this past Monday in the kickoff to the MVGA Tournament Season when the Annual Spring Better Ball was held at NCR CC.
Two of the divisions, needed extra holes, to determine the winners. In the Gross Division, it took 7 extra holes before Brandon Judy rolled in a 6 foot Birdie Putt in the near darkness.

Local Schools and Players Head to NCAA Championships |
Wittenberg to play in the DIII National Championship Wittenberg received an At-Large bid for the NCAA DIII Men's Golf Championships, which will begin this upcoming Tuesday at Mission Inn Resort and Club, in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The team and individual champions will be determined after 72 holes of play or the conclusion of the last fully completed round. Forty-three teams and six individuals not on one of those teams have be selected to participate in the championships. After 36 holes of competition, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and top six individuals not on one of those teams.
For More Wright State Heading to DI Regional at Ohio State Golf Club Winners of their seventh Horizon League Championship in program history, the Wright State golf team is headed to the NCAA Championship for the sixth time in program history, where the Raiders will take part in the Columbus Regional. The Raiders learned their destination this past Wednesday afternoon as part of the live Selection Show on the Golf Channel.
The Raiders will play a practice round on Sunday, May 15 before teeing off in the Regional with 18 holes each day from Monday-Wednesday, May 16-18 at the OSU Golf Club. Columbus is one of six regional sites that will all tee off around the country over those three days. For More Two Time Metropolitan Champion, John Gilkison and OHSAA State Champion, Jordan Gilkison will be leading their Kent State Team into the Regionals in Norman, Oklahoma at the Jimmie Austin Golf Club. Austin Greaser, the Junior at North Carolina along with his Tar Heel Golf team, will travel to play in their Regional as the Number 1 seeded team at the Yale Golf Course in New Haven, Connecticut. For More The Top 5 Teams and Low Individual from each Regional will qualify for the National Championship May 27-June 1 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

May Volunteer Spotlight |
Debbie Stricker has been volunteering for Miami Valley Golf for several years as a course rater and has volunteered at some of the high school qualifiers. She also volunteers at several other places including as an Angel on Request (taking needy clients to appointments/shopping or sitting with a family member to give a caretaker some free time) and Operation Homebound (delivering monthly meals to homebound residents of Del Webb Spruce Creek community) in Florida where she and her husband Bob spend their winters. She has also chaired several events for LPGA Amateurs including Member Guest and Girls Getaway Weekend.

Steve Jurick, PGA, Executive Director of the Miami Valley Golf Association is dedicated to educating and being a resource to fellow professionals and amateurs alike across the Miami Valley. Because of this, Jurick has been awarded the 2022 Professional Development Award. A Past President, Hall of Fame Member and former award recipient, Jurick strives to be a good representative of his fellow PGA Professionals within USGA and Allied Golf Association circles. He further works to help the amateur golf community understand the importance of PGA Professionals in the industry.

Dayton CC Caddie Program |
Dayton Country Club is currently hiring caddies for the 2022 Golf season. The caddy season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Golf experience is preferred, but not required. All candidates should be self-starters who are looking to work hard and build relationships in a fun, professional environment.
Dayton Country Club has a long caddy history that includes many Evans Scholarship recipients, as well as the current Western Golf Association Chairman, Joe Desch.

While Madden Golf Course is currently not open, that does not mean that you can't play it. We recently had the course designed using the LiDAR scan so you can play all 18 holes on the 2k21 PGA Tour.
2k21 PGA Tour Events using the Madden Course will start as we move into the off season but until then you are welcome to play it all you want! |

SOPGA Jr Event Scholarship Program  The Southern Ohio PGA, through the PGA REACH Southern Ohio Foundation, is pleased to introduce the new Junior Golf Grant beginning in 2022. Register for the Play More Golf Challenge |
Back for it's fourth year, the 2022 Season Challenge to post more rounds of golf during our active season then in 2021 will begin on March 15th and end at the end of our Active Season, November 30th.
The winner will receive a Gift Certificate to the Miami Valley Golf Shop of the winners choosing. The drawing will be held in December for those who registered for this challenge and posted more rounds of golf in 2022. Golfer's chances for wining the Grand Prize will increase based on the number of scores posted over their 2021 total. Diana Schwab, Get a Girl Golfing Clinic |
 This Free Clinic will be held on Monday, July 11th at Community Golf Course beginning at 10am and is open to any girl ages 7 -18. This annual clinic is named after Diana Schwab who hosted this clinic every year until her untimely passing in 2013.

Drive Chip and Putt Registration Open |
Local qualifying begins in May. Entrants will play in girls’ and boys’ divisions in four age categories, with scoring centered around skill development in driving, chipping and putting. Local Qualifying Sites are Tri-City Golf Ranch, Heatherwoode, Southwest Golf Ranch, The Golf Club at Dublin and Blacklick Woods Golf Course
