Eaton Country Club to Celebrate the Centennial Year of Clubhouse |
A full day of activities is planned and the public is
encouraged to participate. Plans are for a 9-hole scramble golf outing
and an Open House celebration in the ballroom with light refreshments provided. ECC dates to 1915 when a lease taken on land of which part
was seeded into a few primitive holes along Hillcrest Rd and Rt. 732. Sheep
were used as mowers and Hole 1 was the current hole 5. As time passed, in 1924
the green for Hole 9 was built. So Eaton CC does not have one original
date for the course, but it does for the Clubhouse, which is 1922. In 1920, the 40 acres were purchased and the course started
to be similar to what is there today. Soon thereafter Dayton Ohio Pro Nipper
Campbell redesigned and over seeded all the greens and is given credit for the
design of the course. In 1954 17 acres of what is now hole 9 and the practice
range was added; before that Hole 1 and 9 shared the same fairway. Many
improvements have been made over the years, but overall, the layout of the
course has nearly been the same for the last 100 years. Should you wish to participate or donate your time or
finances for the event, contact Barb Rohl via email
