| The 104th Metropolitan Moves to New Dates in 2026 |
This decision reflects the evolving landscape of amateur golf. With the expansion of U.S. Amateur exemptions, the field has become younger and more competitive. At the same time, many host facilities have expressed interest in supporting the championship without impacting their highest-demand days. Moving the event earlier gives our Champion more time to prepare and make arrangements for the championship, and positions them closer to peak form for the Ohio Amateur, traditionally held just a few weeks later. Beavercreek’s History With the Metropolitan
Scoring trends have shifted dramatically since then. In this year’s Metropolitan, every competitor finished under par, and Ben Cors set a new 72-hole scoring record at 23 under par. With scoring consistently trending lower, it’s likely the winning total in 2026 will be significantly below the -2 posted in 2015. New Dates for 2026The 2026 Metropolitan Championship will be contested: Monday, June 22 through Thursday, June 25 These earlier dates better serve players, host facilities, and the event’s expanding championship pathway, positioning the Metropolitan for continued growth and elevated competition. Entry Application will be available shortly after the first of the year. |
