Honoring the Past, Building the Future |
![]() More than three decades later, we have grown into the primary caretakers of the amateur game in the Miami Valley—stewarding the Dayton District Women’s Golf Association (DDWGA), Miami Valley Masters, and United States Golf Association (USGA) events, championships, and qualifiers. Along the way, we have both revived historic competitions and introduced new events that enhance the competitive landscape of our region. Our season traditionally begins with the Spring Better Ball, followed by the Ohio Amateur Qualifier, held in partnership with the Ohio Golf Association, typically the Tuesday after Memorial Day. The summer brings the area’s premier amateur event, The Metropolitan Championship, followed by the Mercedes-Benz Dealer Championship at Moraine in early August and the Senior & Mid-Amateur Championship. As the season winds down, we host the Miami Valley Team Invitational before culminating with our annual "Celebration" at Dayton Country Club—a variable best ball tournament and awards banquet that honors the year’s achievements. Beyond competition, our dedicated volunteers work tirelessly throughout the year—rating courses, developing course and slope ratings, officiating events, and leading educational seminars. These efforts, along with the stewardship of DDWGA, Masters Events, USGA Course Ratings, and Championship Qualifiers, are only possible because of the passionate support of our members. We encourage you to spread the word about golf and its lifelong impact—not just for our generation, but for those to come. All the best, and keep it in the short grass! |
