Dayton, Ohio — Miami Valley Golf Club will serve as one of 12 Final Qualifying sites for the 2026 U.S. Senior Open, hosting a competitive field on Monday, June 1.
The historic Donald Ross layout will play to a par of 71 at approximately 6,600 yards.
Road to Miami Valley
The journey to the Final Qualifier begins with 31 Local Qualifying events conducted nationwide, starting Thursday, April 2nd at Waikoloa Village Golf Club in Hawaii. The final two local qualifiers are scheduled for Thursday, May 7.
For players in the Midwest, two of the closest qualifying opportunities include:
- Worthington Hills Country Club (Columbus, Ohio) – Monday, April 27
- Orchard Ridge Country Club (Fort Wayne, Indiana) – Wednesday, April 29
Successful competitors from these sites will advance to Final Qualifying, where the stakes rise significantly with spots in the championship field on the line.
The final field for the Miami Valley site is expected to be announced during the second week of May, following the completion of all local qualifying events.
Final Qualifying Stage
Miami Valley Golf Club is one of 12 Final Qualifying locations across the country. Each site will host a strong mix of advancing qualifiers and exempt players—many with professional tour experience and accomplished amateur resumes.
Among those already exempt into the Final Stage at Miami Valley are players such as:
- Mark Wilson – former PGA Tour winner
- Ted Purdy, a qualifier last year at Piqua CC and veteran professional with multiple tour victories
- Jim Muething, Patrick Carter, Jim Volpenhein and Andy Bernatovicz – accomplished amateurs adding depth to the field
Looking Ahead: The Championship
Those who successfully navigate Final Qualifying (# of Qualifying Positions will be announced shortly before the qualifying round) will earn a place in the 2026 U.S. Senior Open Championship, to be contested at:
