“Ouimet Redux” |

In the early part of the 20th century in the United States golf was a game for amateurs. Many amateur events had stronger fields than professional tournaments. The only professional who made his living from playing golf – that is not having to have a job as a club professional for steady income – was Walter Hagen. Grip strength and your overall strength |
Grip strength is one of the best overall tests for total body strength. Numerous studies demonstrate a high correlation with grip strength and swing speed and golfing proficiency. Greater grip strength allows you to handle the forces transferred through the hands and wrists during the golf swing, which means less chance of injury and better control of the clubface.
The average tour player can demonstrate over 50kg of pressure on the squeeze test, with the lead side being slightly stronger. If you ask the average tour player how much force they think they use when gripping a club most will say around 50%, and research supports that. Now, take the average golfer that comes into my office for an assessment. Most have a grip strength of around 30kg. So..... More |

WHS Change Summaries |
Subject #11: Net Double Bogey |
| OLD WAY: The maximum hole score for handicap purposes is based on a player’s Course Handicap and the Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) table. | NEW WAY: The maximum hole score for each player will be limited to a Net Double Bogey, equal to Par + 2 + any handicap strokes received (based on the player’s Course Handicap). | WHY: By factoring in Par and Stroke Index values under the Net Double Bogey procedure, adjusted hole scores will be more precise and reflective of each player’s demonstrated ability.
