PGA Jr. league
PGA Jr. League exists to bring communities together through fun, team golf experiences… plus those experiences that transcend golf itself, like friendships that last for years to come or a newfound sense of confidence. This unique approach highlights team play versus individual competition and serves as a feeder system to transition youth golfers to existing junior golf programs, such as those offered by local PGA Sections. The format of play is explained below and can be found here.
FORMAT - Scramble - In the format that PGA Jr. League uses, both players on a team hit drives. The best shot is selected, then each player plays from the selected spot, and this process continues until the ball is holed. Match - As part of the Game, players participate in head-to-head Matches. A Match is nine holes in length and the Captain or Coach is responsible for appropriately assigning players to each Match. Game - A competition between two PGA Jr. League teams. A Game consists of two teams, each fielding at least eight players (10 players in postseason broken into four groups of two). Flag - Each Match is broken into three of these. A Flag is three holes in a row, and each team has the opportunity to earn points at the end of each Flag. At the end of a Flag.
WHO - PGA Jr. League is open to both boys and girls, 17 and under, of all skill levels and abilities.
Facilities can elect to offer 13u and/or 17u teams and leagues. In 13u programs, the minimum age is dictated by the facility and the child must be 13-years-old on or before July 31, 2020 (or December 31, 2020 for the Fall Season). Conversely, 17u programs are designed for children 14-years-old to no older than 17-years-old on or before July 31, 2020 (or December 31, 2020 for the Fall Season).
WHEN - PGA Jr. League is played all year-long! The program is split into two primary seasons: Summer and Fall.
The PGA Jr. League Postseason is attached to the Summer Season. After participating in the Summer Season, competitive golfers have the opportunity to be selected for their league's All-Star team. The postseason begins in August (late July in some areas), culminating with the PGA Jr. League Championship in October.
