The US Amateur Qualifier at Miami Valley Golf Club was a weather tormented event. After a two hour and twenty minute rain delay on Monday, play resumed, but was eventually suspended at 6:35 p.m. for more inclement weather. This caused the event to continue on to Tuesday and on Tuesday three gentlemen received their ticket to the US Amateur at Atlanta Athletic Club. |
Tripp French was the medalist firing 69-67 for a total of six-under par. Jordan Millice wasn't far behind with a two-round total of four-under par (66-72). The last qualifying spot had to go into a playoff, where Alec Tahy faced off against Michael Shonk, who had completed his second round and posted a two-round two-under par before play was suspended on Monday. |
The playoff only lasted one hole and Tahy came out victorious, while Shonk had to settle for the first alternate spot. Austin Cuervo grabbed the second alternate position. It was a great couple of days of golf and we can't wait to see how our qualifiers perform on the national stage in Atlanta August 11-17. |
