 - At the conclusion of the opening round of this year's 98th Metropolitan, multiple competitors have put themselves in a solid position going into tomorrow's Second Round. It was Cody Cogdill who has taken an early lead as he carded 7 birdies and an eagle on his way to a round of 67 (-5). Following was Bryce Haney with a 4 under, 68. Ben Herman and Ryan Groff are the the other two players to break 70 in the first round with 3 under 69's. After Friday's Round the top 32 players and ties will advance to weekend play. After the 1st Rd the 32nd position was at the score of +5 Previous Metro Champion Jeff Scohy (2010) carded -2 in his first round 70 and he was one of nine players under par in the first round. The first round saw a scoring average of 80.6. Hole # 17 played the toughest with an average score of 5.08 and the easiest for the amateurs was hole 1 with an average score of just over par at 5.02.
