Championship Today

After a season of events, leagues and regional qualifiers across Ohio, the 2026 Ohio Doubles Championship takes place today on the refreshed North Course at NCR Country Club. Tee times begin at noon for the state’s final Doubles event of the year, an 18-hole, two-person scramble featuring Men’s, Senior, Mixed and Women’s divisions.

The winning A Division team in each category will advance to the US Doubles Golf National Championship, October 26–27 at The Bear’s Club in Jupiter, Florida. Ties for those titles will be decided by sudden-victory playoff.

Moraine Intercollegiate
College golf returns to Moraine Country Club on October 12–13 for the second annual Moraine Intercollegiate, hosted by Miami University. The competitive 16-team field includes local programs Dayton, Wright State and Xavier, along with Penn State, Wisconsin, Minnesota, UConn and several other leading programs. Spectators are welcome to experience high-level college golf on one of the region’s finest courses, and admission is free. Please note that spectator carts will not be available.

Road to State Ends
Ohio’s best high school golfers head to the OHSAA State Championships this weekend, with several Miami Valley teams carrying notable streaks and stories into the final event of the season. Alter makes its 10th consecutive State appearance and will pursue a fifth straight Boys Division II championship at Firestone Country Club, while National Trail heads to NorthStar Golf Club for a third consecutive Boys Division III appearance. St. Xavier will compete at State for the fifth straight year when the Division I championships come to NCR Country Club, while Arcanum’s Girls Division II team makes its first State appearance in 31 years. Division II competes October 11–12, followed by Division I and Boys Division III on October 12–13.

GHIN App Refresh

The USGA is rolling out a redesigned GHIN mobile app with easier navigation, improved course graphics and expanded statistics to help golfers track their game. Your Handicap Index and score posting remain front and center, while a refreshed Stats section makes it easier to follow scoring trends, review hole-by-hole performance and explore results at courses you play regularly. The Apple Watch experience has also been redesigned.

The update is being released in phases, with all users expected to receive it by October 19. Keep your app updated and watch for the new look.

Districts Conclude

The Road to State continued this past week at Heatherwoode Golf Club with the final two Southwest District Championships. St. Xavier captured the Boys Division I title with a 290 to earn its fifth consecutive trip to State, while Sycamore posted a 323 to win the Girls Division I championship. The week also featured medalist rounds of 69 from St. Xavier’s Jax Denton and Loveland’s Casey Kopecky, an even-par 71 from Sycamore freshman Savanna Blackmore, and a hole-in-one by Springboro’s Emma Knost.

For Nealy 50 Years

NCR Country Club won the Gross Division and Sugar Valley won the Net Division in the 2026 Ladies Country Club Team Play season. Eight area country clubs participated, with each team playing seven matches throughout the season.

Founded in 1978, Ladies Team Play has been part of the Miami Valley golf community for almost 50 years. The season-long competition brings women together to represent their clubs and compete for gross and net championships. Congratulations to NCR and Sugar Valley, and thank you to all participating players, captains, and clubs.

Dayton Wins
The University of Dayton men’s golf team captured the Tom Tontimonia Invitational at Lakewood Country Club, finishing the 54-hole championship at 5-under par. Junior Luke Kahle claimed individual medalist honors with rounds of 70-72-66 for a 5-under 208, while T.J. Kreusch placed fourth at 2-under. The Flyers led the field in par-4 and par-5 scoring and recorded a tournament-high 47 birdies, completing what head coach Collin Toner called a “total team effort.”

Volunteer Spotlight

Jim Heimbach, a Centerville resident and NCR member, has loved golf since winning Greene Country Club’s 9-hole Club Championship at age nine. He enjoys the various roles he fills as an MVG volunteer and has also volunteered at Hoopla and USGA events. Jim retired from NCR Corporation in 2025 after 41 years as a Software Architect and serves on NCR Country Club’s Board of Trustees. He is married with two grown children and collects golf memorabilia, old soda signs, and clocks. Thank you, Jim, for sharing your time and passion for golf as a volunteer!

Miami Valley Golf is accepting applications for its paid P.J. Boatwright Internship Program. Flexible internships range from three to 12 months and provide hands-on experience in championship administration, communications, website management, junior golf and membership services. College students, graduate students, recent graduates and anyone interested in golf association management are encouraged to apply by November 1.
