Springboro captured the OHSAA Southwest District Boys Division I Sectional Championship, leading a field of 14 teams and 69 golfers at PipeStone Golf Club.
Overnight storms continued into the morning and forced the start of play to be delayed by four hours. With the final groups finishing just minutes before dark, Springboro posted a team score of 308 to secure a 20-stroke victory. Centerville finished second at 328, Carroll placed third at 333 and Kettering Fairmont earned the fourth and final team berth at 335.
Fairmont and Lebanon finished tied at 335, but the fourth qualifying position was decided by the fifth-score tiebreaker. Fairmont advanced with a fifth score of 91, two strokes better than Lebanon’s 93, eliminating the need for a team playoff.
Kettering Fairmont junior Ashton Adams and Springboro senior Luke Wagner shared medalist honors after matching rounds of 76. Franklin senior Tanner Newsome led the individual qualifiers from non-qualifying teams with a 77. Chaminade Julienne junior Quinn Farrell and Northmont senior Carson Auxier each advanced with rounds of 78.
The final individual berth could not be decided before darkness. Badin freshman Maddox Haire and Lebanon senior Griffin Rose returned to PipeStone the following morning after both shot 79. Haire prevailed on the third playoff hole to earn the final trip to the District Championship.

The qualifying teams and individuals will advance to the Boys Division I District Championship on Monday, October 5, at Heatherwoode Golf Club. Grounds passes may be purchased through the OHSAA ticketing website.
