Beavercreek captured the OHSAA Southwest District Boys Division I Sectional Championship, leading a field of 15 teams and 75 golfers at National Golf Links.
Competing through cool and misty conditions with occasional breaks of sunshine, Beavercreek posted a team score of 293 to earn a three-stroke victory. Bellbrook finished second at 296, Greenville placed third at 301 and Butler secured the fourth and final team berth at 307. All four teams advanced to the District Championship.
Greenville junior Hayden Null earned medalist honors with a 3-under-par 69. Beavercreek senior Jack Faulkner finished second with a 2-under 70, while Bellbrook senior Nicholas Bruckman, Butler junior Bennett Bardonaro and Greenville senior Brody Weaver each shot 1-under 71. The five under-par rounds made this the lowest-scoring sectional of the season to date.
Sidney freshman Leyton Goffena led the individual qualifiers from non-qualifying teams with a 73, followed by Bethel senior Logan Norris with a 74. The final two berths required a three-player playoff after Bethel junior Lucas Vest, Springfield senior Miller Sin and Tippecanoe senior Grant Paulet each finished at 75. Sin and Paulet prevailed in the playoff to advance.
The qualifying teams and individuals will advance to the Boys Division I District Championship on Monday, October 5, at Heatherwoode Golf Club. Grounds passes may be purchased through the OHSAA ticketing website.
