Arcanum captured the OHSAA Southwest District Boys Division II Sectional Championship, leading a field of 14 teams and 70 golfers at National Golf Links.
Playing through cool, damp and misty conditions with temperatures only reaching the low 60s, Arcanum posted a team score of 320 to earn a four-stroke victory. Versailles finished second at 324, Miami East placed third at 329 and Springfield Northwestern secured the fourth and final team berth at 330. All four teams advanced to the District Championship.
Arcanum senior Luke Stephens earned medalist honors with a 1-over-par 73. Miami East sophomore Brandt Wingate finished second with a 75, while Versailles senior Ethan Phlipot placed third with a 77.
Indian Lake senior Jaxon Snipes led the four individual qualifiers advancing from non-qualifying teams with a 79. He was joined by Greeneview senior Hagan Witt and Milton-Union senior Hunter Fraley, who each shot 81, along with Greenon freshman Reed Henry, who earned the final individual berth with an 82.
The qualifying teams and individuals will advance to the Boys Division II District Championship on Tuesday, September 29, at Heatherwoode Golf Club. Grounds passes may be purchased through the OHSAA ticketing website.
