Tian Wins

Meadow Tian of Delaware, Ohio captured the 103rd Ohio Women's Amateur Championship at Moraine Country Club, defeating Addison Kartusch of Bowling Green 3 & 2 in the 36-hole championship match. After advancing through two rounds of stroke-play qualifying and five match-play victories, Tian claimed Ohio's premier women's amateur title and earned an exemption into the 2026 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.

USNDP Scholarship Program

On July 15, the USGA announced that the 2027 USNDP Scholarship Program is now open. Families can apply for grants up to $15,000 to help fund travel, lessons, entry fees, equipment and more. The application window for 2027 grants is open until October 31, 2026. Grants are need-based and awarded to families and players who meet the listed requirements.

The mission of the United States National Development Program is to support young golfers, both competitively and financially.

Play Golf Ohio License Plate

PGA REACH Southern Ohio and the Northern Ohio PGA Golf Foundation recently announced the launch of a new license plate, 'Play Golf Ohio,' to support the growth of the game.

Each purchase of the license plate will include a $15 donation to the Northern Ohio PGA Section Foundation and the Southern Ohio PGA Golf Foundation. These programs support youth initiatives, people with disabilities and veterans all through golf.

Click here to vote on a design for the license plate and enter the sweepstakes to win a package of six dozen golf balls, Southern Ohio PGA and Northern Ohio PGA apparel, a pair of Footjoy golf shoes and a choice of a Scotty Cameron putter.

The license plate is expected to be available for purchase in late 2026.

Team OH vs. Team PA

Team Ohio headed to the Pittsburgh Field Club in Pennsylvania to compete against Team Pennsylvania in matches on Thursday and Friday. Thursday's match concluded with Team Ohio falling to Team Pennsylvania 3-1. Friday's match was cancelled due to hazardous weather conditions.

The USGA's National Development Program brings together elite junior golfers from across the country, providing an opportunity for Team Ohio to compete on the national stage.

July Volunteer Spotlight

Frank Albanese Jr. is a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served 27 years active duty and 15 years as a civilian employee.

In addition to his 42 years of service, Frank is an avid golfer and plays his golf on base. Frank's golfing success is highlighted by his 1974 victory at the Melody Hills Club Championship in Harmony, Rhode Island.

Frank is a not only a Miami Valley Golf volunteer, he also volunteers at the House of Bread.

Family plays a central role in Frank's life - he has been married to his wife Norma for 44 years and they have three children.
