Ohio Women's Am Championship
The 103rd Ohio Women's Amateur Championship will be held this week at Moraine Country Club, marking the championship's first visit to the club since 1932 and introducing a new format featuring 36 holes of stroke play before the field is cut to the low 32 players for match play. One of our States premier championship venues, Moraine has hosted numerous championships, including the 1945 PGA Championship, the 2024 Western Amateur and multiple Ohio Amateur Championships.

The 2026 field is highlighted by 2025 runner-up Sabrina Coffman and 2024 runner-up Cara Heisterkamp, along with a strong group of southwest Ohio standouts, including Ally Turner, Clare Yeazell, Ellie Yeazell, Kylee Heidemann, Lauren Miller, Leeann Harker, Morgan Rodgers, Riley Johnson, and Taylor Dunkle.

The winner of the Ohio Women's Amateur Championship will receive an exemption into the 126th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship August 4–9 at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee.

Play starts each day at 7:30am and Spectators are Welcome.

U.S. Women's Am Q Recap
Bella Flores was medalist with a score of 5-under 67 at the U.S. Women's Amateur Qualifier at Walnut Grove Country Club. Flores had five birdies and an eagle for the day to earn a spot in the championship.

Jie-En Lin, a 15-year-old from Chinese Taipei, placed solo second with a score of 4-under 68 to earn her third straight trip to the U.S. Women's Amateur as the youngest player in the field. Lin was also the youngest player in the 2024 and 2025 fields. Recently, Lin competed in the U.S. Women's Open.

Emily Mathews and Taylor Snively both carded scores of 3-under 69 to tie for third and qualify for the championship as well. The cut line came at 3-under-par with a 3-for-2 playoff for the alternate positions. Mia Hammond is the first alternate and Mary Grace Dunigan is the second alternate.

The four qualifiers will compete in the 126th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship at The Honors Couse in Ooltewah, Tennessee, on August 4-9.

Team Ohio Competes
Over Fourth of July weekend, Team Ohio competed in the second USNDP event at SentryWorld, the USNDP Midwest Sentry Showcase in Wisconsin. Team Ohio and Team Minnesota both fell to Team Wisconsin in the event. Therese Hession, the Team Ohio Captain, led a Q&A session for the players on Friday to share about her coaching experience from Ohio State and her time as an LPGA player.

The USGA's National Development Program brings together elite junior golfers from Ohio, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, providing an opportunity for Team Ohio to compete on the national stage.

July Volunteer Spotlight
Frank Albanese Jr. is a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served 27 years active duty and 15 years as a civilian employee.

In addition to his 42 years of service, Frank is an avid golfer and plays his golf on base. Frank's golfing success is highlighted by his 1974 victory at the Melody Hills Club Championship in Harmony, Rhode Island.

Frank is a not only a Miami Valley Golf volunteer, he also volunteers at the House of Bread.

Family plays a central role in Frank's life - he has been married to his wife Norma for 44 years and they have three children.
