- In 1991, the USGA established the P.J. Boatwright Jr. Internship Program. This program is designed to give experience to individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in golf administration, while assisting allied golf associations in the promotion of golf in their community, on a short-term, entry level basis. Each internship is different, since the needs vary from association to association. An intern may help conduct tournaments, junior golf programs, membership services, and other general activities that promote the best interests of golf. This year we are excited to announce Miami Valley Golf’s 28th class of PJ Boatwrights Interns– Kate Anderson and Cristina Hidalgo. Kate Anderson is an accomplished professional known for her work ethic and creativity. Kate was born and raised in Centerville Ohio, where she attended Incarnation grade school and Alter High School. Kate participated in a plethora of activities, including CYO golf, cheerleading, and her high school dance team. Currently, Kate is attendingthe University of Mississippi where she studying sports and recreational administration with a minor of general business. Kate keeps busy at school being an active member of Phi Mu Alpha Delta while also working in the recruiting departing for the Ole Miss Football Team.Kate is filled with enthusiasmand brings a fresh eye to every project she undertakes. Kate is constantly seeking opportunities to enhance her knowledge of the golf game and networking as much as possible. Cristina Hidalgo is an individual whose passion for golf has
shaped her personal life and professional journey. Currently pursuing her
Master's Degree, Cristina is also a Graduate Assistant Golf Coach for Women's
and Men's Golf Teams at the University of Rio Grande. Cristina has been
passionate about golf since she was eight years old. She has worked on
improving her skills on and off the golf course by volunteering for various
golf organizations, including the PGA Tour, PGA Latinoamérica, and the USGA, by
helping with Shotlink, tournament operations, walking scores, and broadcasting
for NBC. Having lived in four countries—Mexico, Canada, Germany, and the United
States—Cristina brings an international perspective to her role. Before her
current position, Cristina served as a PGA WORKS Fellow for the Southern Ohio
PGA, where she gained valuable experience in the golf industry. As she begins
her journey as a P.J. Boatwright Intern, Cristina is excited to continue
growing and learning in the sport she loves. |
