|- This past week saw the smaller high schools in the Southwest Region of the OHSAA determine teams and individuals to qualify for the state championships that starts this Friday in Columbus Ohio. In the smallest Boy School Division (D3) this past Monday saw the teams from Seven Hills and Middletown Christian advance out of the District Championship held at Heatherwoode Golf Club. The two individuals that advanced where Tanner Conklin from Troy Christian and prevailing in a Playoff for the second spot was Ross Dietz from Botkins High School. The qualifying teams and individuals will play a 36-Hole Competition this Friday and Saturday at NortStar Golf Club in Sunbury.|
In the Boys D2 District held on Tuesday also at Heatherwoode, it was the boy’s team from Alter qualifying for their third consecutive State Championship when their team captured the low team honors over the second-place team from Wyoming High School. There was a three-way tie for Medalist Honors at even par and Colin Schadek from Bishop Fenwick High School prevailed over Wyatt Higgins from Indian Hill and Finley Bartlett from Wyoming. All three who tied for low will move onto the State Championship on the Scarlet Course at OSU Golf Club, Schadek and Higgins as Individuals and Finley as part of his team from Wyoming.
The Final Small School District Championship, the Girls D2 Division, was the tightest, as we saw the teams from Seven Hills and Bishop Fenwick High Schools tie for the 2nd team qualifying position and three lady golfers tie for the two qualifying positions as individuals. The team tie did not require a playoff as the tie breaker was determined by the fifth players score which saw Seven Hills prevail as their number five player was six shots better than Bishop Fenwick’s fifth player. Taking the low team honors by 14 shots was Alter High School. In the individual race to the state it took three playoff holes to determine the second position as Hope Manning from Southeastern prevailed over Sophia Rush from Bishop Fenwick. Lyndia Dietz from Botkins claimed the 1st Position and Medalist honors on the first playoff hole.
The Girls D2 State Championship begins this Friday on the Gray Course at OSU Golf Club.
