Over his Home Links

CJ_Scohy- C.J. Scohy from Bellbrook HS made the most of his second chance at the state’s top golf honor, leveraging his experience and home course advantage. Scohy tied for third place at the OHSAA Division I Boys State Golf Championships on Tuesday, finishing with a two-day total of 5-over 145 at NCR Country Club’s South Course. As a sophomore in 2022, Scohy finished 49th after shooting 83-85. Now a senior, playing on a course where he felt most comfortable, he put himself in contention for the title.

Scohy started the final round five shots behind Cincinnati St. Xavier's Michael Stagnaro, who shot the tournament’s only under-par round on day one. Scohy's opening round 73 placed him in the final group with the other top scorers. A long birdie putt on the first hole narrowly missed, the first of several close calls that would impact a tight leaderboard. Scohy bogeyed two of the next three holes, but as the weather turned rainy, he bounced back with two birdies—one coming after a near chip-in on the fifth hole, and another following a brilliant 160-yard shot on the sixth that stopped two feet from the cup.
