|Holds Off Runs By Challengers|
When starting a Championship, bogie, bogie, you would not give that player much of a chance to win, but Mikkel Mathieson, prevailed, despite late challenges by Justin Horn, our second-place finisher and Davis Root our third-place finisher who had a share of the lead late in the final round of the 99th Metropolitan. Rounding out the top five finishers were 2021 Champion, Bryce Haney in 4th Position, and Mason Witt in 5th position.
The hardest Hole for the Day was Hole #18 with it’s back right hole location and tricky breeze that wanted to push the ball into the Penalty Area on the right. For all four rounds, the Hardest Hole was #16. The easiest hole in the final round helped by a strong downwind, was hole #15 and it played at .65 under par. For all four rounds the easiest hole was the Par Five, Hole #3 coming in at 4.88.
For all four days of the Championship their where 16 Eagles, 311 birdies and one Double Eagle by Bryce Haney in Friday’s Second Round. There where 44 under par rounds with sixteen coming in the final round and their where four, 66’s marking the lowest score for the championship!
Mikkel’s 15 under par winning score was three shots short of the record, 18 under par recorded by 2017 Champion Josh Gilkison
