Leiahnni Smith joins mvg this summer

WGA_Distingiushed_Service_Award_to_Brent_Sipe- Leiahnni has spent this summer teaching kids the fundamentals of the game of golf in 2 summer camps through the Mulligans Golf Association in Lima, Ohio and Miami Valley Golf in Clayton, Ohio. Leiahnni has been helping both kids and women to give them more exposure to the game of golf that has opened many doors of opportunity for her and it’s why she is where she is today.

Leiahnni began her golf journey at the age of 8. She would accompany her dad while he would play with his friends by driving the cart until one day, she wanted a turn to hit a shot. Ever since, Leiahnni attended the Mulligans Golf Association Youth Summer Golf Camp every year learning the fundamentals of golf and developing a passion for the game. She even had the opportunity to attend numerous PGA and LPGA events and got to meet many professional players which allowed her to receive advice and practice tips so that she could improve her game and become the best player to her ability. Leiahnni also played throughout high school where she participated in and won sectional, regional and district championships. Her greatest high school accomplishment was being a part of the winning Lima Central Catholic 2021 OHSAA Division 2 Girls Golf State Championship team where she became the first Black African American golf state champion in Allen County and Northwestern Ohio history as well as becoming the second to achieve this in the entire state. After graduating, Leiahnni started her collegiate career at Edward Waters University where she became the first signee in the history of their Women’s Golf Program. While at EWU, she was invited to be a part of a mentoring program with Women of Color Golf/Girls on the Green Tee. She served as the 2022-23 WOCG HBCU collegiate ambassador allowing her the experience to play in the Aramco Team Series Pro Am. Currently, she continuing her journey of collegiate golf at Bethune Cookman University.

Leiahnni a Junior studying Business Administration and Management at Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida. Currently, Leiahnni aspires to contribute to the team’s success in hopes to win a conference championship.

The summer of 2025, Leiahnni plans to return to Miami Valley Golf in Clayton, Ohio to assist with the golf camp, as well as explore more fields in the golf industry in pursuit to find a career that best fits her. She also plans to coach the Mulligans Golf Association Youth Summer Golf Camp in Lima, Ohio along with helping again with the clinics for women and youth.

Leiahnni is grateful for all the relationships built, challenges overcome and opportunities she has been able to take part in, she is excited to bring more awareness to the game of golf that has changed her life forever.
