- For the past 15 years, Larry has been a dedicated volunteer with Miami Valley Golf, serving as a rules official and referee for numerous golf tournaments. His love for golf extends beyond officiating; he is also a member of NCR Country Club, where he plays golf frequently.
Larry's journey into the world of golf began with a heartwarming story from his youth. In his early years, he along with a bunch of Iowa farm boys came together to play golf on a whim, bonding over the sport and creating unforgettable memories. This event sparked an interest in Larry, igniting a lifelong dedication to the sport.
Before his retirement, Larry was an member of Urology Associates of Dayton, where he dedicated his career to helping others and making a positive impact in people's lives. Even in retirement, he continues to give back to the community by volunteering for the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) at Wright State University, fostering a love for sports and fair play among young athletes.
But golf and volunteering are not the only aspects of Larry's life that make it vibrant and fulfilling. He has an insatiable curiosity about history and loves to travel, always seeking opportunities to explore new places and delve into the past.
Larry's favorite destination is Disney World, where he has been visiting since 1972. The annual spring break tradition with his family started in 1989 and continues to this day, making cherished memories with each passing year. They stay at the same hotel, creating a sense of nostalgia and a home away from home for everyone.
Throughout life's journey, Larry has built a large family, filled with love and support. He was married to his beloved wife, Barb, for 43 years before she passed away in 2016.
From his time as a golf referee to his commitment to the community and family, he embodies the spirit of giving back and cherishing the moments that truly matter.
