Player of the Year |
- Tyler Goecke, a Xenia resident and graduate of Carroll High
School and Wright State University, has been named the 2024 Miami Valley Golf
Player of the Year. Goecke’s
exceptional season was highlighted by his commanding 8-shot victory at the
102nd Metropolitan Championship, where he finished an astounding 19-under par
over four rounds at Miami Valley Golf Club.
In addition to his dominant Metropolitan Championship performance, Goecke showcased his talent on a national stage. He secured runner-up finishes in two highly esteemed amateur events—the NCAA National Championship and the Ohio Amateur. Furthermore, he made the cut at the prestigious Western Amateur, capping off a year filled with remarkable achievements. Coming in second place for Player of the Year honors was two-time Metropolitan Champion, Mikkel Mathiesen. Mathiesen also had an impressive season, with the highlight being his performance at the U.S. Amateur, where he reached Match Play and won his first-round match before narrowly losing in the Quarterfinals to Parker Bell of Tallahassee, Florida. Rounding out the top three was Brody Simms, who delivered a strong year of consistent play, further cementing his position among Miami Valley Golf’s elite amateurs. Congratulations to Tyler Goecke on his well-deserved title
of 2024 Player of the Year and to Mikkel Mathiesen and Brody Simms for their
outstanding seasons! Miami Valley Golf is proud to celebrate the
accomplishments of all its players as they continue to excel and represent the
region on the highest stages of amateur golf. Tyler will be presented his Award at the Spring Better Ball at NCR CC on Monday, April 28th |
