For the Second Time

3x2_Promo- The 103rd Metropolitan Championship will take center stage at Windy Knoll Golf Club from July 24th-27th, marking its return to the course for the first time since 2010. That year, Jeff Scohy claimed victory with a 4-under-par finish, edging Michael Bernard by two strokes and Cedarville Coach, Ryan Bowen by three. Set on the grounds of the former Windy Knoll Horse Farm—once home to world-class racehorses like Avatar and Native Uproar—the course combines a rich equestrian legacy with a firm, fast, and challenging layout, making it an ideal host for the areas premier amateur championship.

This 2025 championship will feature a new champion, as 2024 champion Tyler Goecke will not defend his title. Goecke has joined the professional ranks, making him ineligible to compete. His absence opens the door for a new champion to etch their name into the regions rich golf history and have it engraved on the “Loving Cup,” donated over a century ago by Governor Cox, the publisher of the Dayton Daily News and a presidential candidate in 1919.

Since its inception, the Metropolitan has been the definitive test for determining the best amateur golfer in the Miami Valley. Over the years, it has alternated between stroke play and match play formats, reflecting the evolving nature of competitive golf. Under the stewardship of Miami Valley Golf since 1996, the championship has been contested as a 72-hole stroke play event, with a cut to the top 32 players and ties after the first 36 holes.

Registration will begin in 2025
