|Welcome to The 99th Metropolitan!|
One hundred and three years ago Vincent Hilton defeated Walter Lamfersick in a 36 Hole Match contested at Dayton CC, 8 & 7. This was the start of our Annual Tradition of identifying our areas best Amateur Golfer.
Twenty-Six years ago at the newly opened Golf Club at Yankee Trace, the newly formed, Miami Valley Golf Association, took over stewarding the championship as Greg Lawrence won the first championship contested using Stroke Play.
Now you have an opportunity to add your name onto the “Loving Cup” first awarded all those years ago. We wish you all the best in that pursuit!
The first round will begin this Thursday at 7:30am when Brandon J Johnson strikes the first tee shot. Tee Times (View Here) will run until 12:20pm when three of the past Champions Tee Off with the Final 1st Round Tee Shot being struck by our five time Champion, Peter Samborsky II.
After the 1st round, Starting Assignments will be redone based on score with the highest scores going out first. There will be no registration, however we ask that you arrive at the first tee in plenty of time as there is no need to make anyone nervous. We will provide Caddies an MVGA Bib, and we ask that they wear it throughout the round.
Practice Balls will be set on the practice tee and your golf cart, if you choose to ride, will have your name and tee time listed to ensure maximum efficiency of cart usage. (Only Two Carts Per Group) These carts will be set behind the driving range, and we ask that you do all your warmup before you load your cart and ensure you reach the first tee in plenty of time as it's a bit of a distance from the Practice Tee.
There will be additional information added to this Website throughout the week and everything can be viewed right here.
Don’t forget to enter the Metro Contest, the annual draft picking players who compete in the Championship. (Draft Pool from Players Entered through Thursday (7/14).
All the Best in the 99th Metropolitan!Sincerely,
Miami Valley Golf
