|Metro 36-Hole Recap|
- Yes, it was hot! But just not the temperature. Let’s start with a seven under, 29 on the front side, by WSU Raider, Davis Root, his 5 birdie (#1,2,5,8,9) and one eagle (#3) on the front side (Yes, He was 5 under on his first five holes) catapulted him into the lead as he made the turn to the back side. His fellow Raider teammate, Mikkel Mathiesen, was able to grab the lead back with his very solid round of 68. His scorecard was unblemished, until he bogied both 16 & 17 before closing with a Birdie on the 18th. Davis’s great front nine and Mikkel’s very solid round where not the only players with a hot hand as Defending Champion, Bryce Haney came roaring back from a first round 74, with a six under 66 which included the second known, double eagle, in Metropolitan History on Hole #8 as he holed out his second shot with a Mizuno three iron on this devilishly tricky Par Five.
First Round Leader, Justin Horn kept up his solid play with a two under par 70, which has him tied for second place with Davis Root with a two-day total of five under par.
The midway cut fell at 153, 9 over par, and 36 players will continue into the 3rd Rd which begins at 7:30, with the final grouping going out at 9:20.
Yesterday’s first round saw only, three under par rounds, today’s second round more than quadrupled that number with 13. Hole #17, thanks to a back right hole location was the hardest hole during the second round, but for both rounds #16 still ranks the hardest. The easiest Hole was Hole #12 in the second round with a shortened yardage of just 298 yards it gave up 27 birdies and one eagle. Tomorrow's round, will see hole # 6 play at just under 300 yards, to create some excitement early in the third round.
Spectators are welcome and the final group tees off at Country Club of the North at 9:20am.
