She is the captain of the ONU Women ’s Golf Team, has qualified for the 2024 NCAA D3 Women ’s National Golf Tournament, and has earned two individual medalist honors. Marisa is also a member of the ONU Honors Program and participates in multiple on-campus organizations while balancing her academic and athletic commitments. Early Golf Journey and Inspiration Before attending Ohio Northern, Marisa honed her golfing skills at Bellbrook High School as a member of the Men ’s Golf Team for four years. Competing alongside male teammates and playing from men ’s tees inspired her to advocate for a more inclusive and equitable golfing environment for women. Her experience shaped her passion for growing the game and encouraging more young women to take up golf. Professional Experience and Vision Marisa brings a wealth of hands-on experience from her four years at Sugar Valley Golf Club, where she excelled in outside operations and contributed to Junior Golf Clinics. Her commitment to the game extends beyond her work, as she also volunteers at the prestigious Memorial Tournament. These experiences have provided her with a comprehensive understanding of golf course operations and the vital role they play in delivering an exceptional golfer experience. Marisa is passionate about leveraging this knowledge to grow the game, making it more enjoyable, inclusive, and accessible for players of all levels. Internship and Responsibilities In her role with Miami Valley Golf, Marisa will focus on a variety of tasks, including championship administration, database management, website maintenance, junior golf programming, and membership activities. She will also lead efforts to implement the Best Tee Program in partnership with the USGA. This program aims to provide guidelines for golfers to select appropriate tees for their skill level, improving pace of play, enhancing the casual golf experience, and encouraging new players—especially women—to take up the game. A Legacy of Supporting Golf Development Marisa ’s internship is part of the P.J. Boatwright Jr. Internship Program, established by the USGA to honor its former Executive Director of Rules and Competitions. This program supports junior golf, public golf, and championship administration across the country. Miami Valley Golf has proudly participated in the program since 1996, fostering the growth of the sport and inspiring the next generation of leaders in golf. |
