Spring Better Ball Set for April 28 at NCR Country Club |
Beginning at 11:00 AM, participants may take part in the Putt for the Future putting contest and the Clubs for a Cause equipment donation drive. Both support Youth on Course, a national initiative that provides affordable access to golf for young players. Lunch and Skins registration open at 11:30 AM. The tournament play will be split by division, with the Net Divisions competing on the North Course and the Gross Divisions on the South Course. In the Open Divisions, players will compete from the Black Tee markers; in the Senior Divisions, players will use the White Tees. At the conclusion of play and after scoring is verified, the 2024 Players of the Year will be recognized and commemorative plaques will be awarded, followed by tournament awards.
Established in 1954, NCR Country Club has hosted several major championships, including the 1969 PGA Championship, 1986 U.S. Women’s Open, 1998 U.S. Mid-Amateur, 2005 U.S. Senior Open, 2013 USGA Women’s State Team, and the 2022 U.S. Senior Women’s Open. The South Course, home to this year’s Spring Better Ball, is well-regarded for its tournament pedigree and course quality. Later this year, the North Course will undergo a full renovation led by Jim Nagle of Forse Design, aimed at restoring original design features created by Dick Wilson. Work is scheduled to begin in August 2025 and conclude by Memorial Day 2026. NCR will also host the 2027 Junior PGA Championships. The Spring Better Ball has been held at NCR since 2022. It features Gross and Net Skins divisions, electronic scoring via the Golf Genius app, and Net Division handicaps based on the April 25 GHIN revision.
