| CONTINUING THE CONVERSATION - Walter Speedy Sr. |
 Walter Speedy is an important gentleman when it comes to strides made for African American golfers. Sometime prior to 1910, Speedy and several African American players organized an informal group called the Pioneer Golf Club.
Later in 1910, Speedy and three other African American players sought to enter the Chicago Parks Championship Tournament at the public golf course, Jackson Park. Sadly, all golfers were barred from playing due to their race. Frustrated by the inability to compete against a wider range of golfers in formal tournaments, Speedy was among a group of African American men in 1915 who formed another group, called the Alpha Golf Club.  Trivia Answer - Who is the only NFL Quarterback to win a PGA Champions Tour Event.
John Brody competed as golfer on the Senior PGA Tour (now the Champions Tour) from 1985 to 1998. Brodie had one win, the 1991 Security Pacific Senior Classic, and twelve top-ten finishes, earning a total of $735,000. Incidentally he had the longest gap between appearances in the US Open missing the cut in both in 1959 and 1981 - Look at his biography |
