SEMINAR TO Prepare for the World Handicap System |
For a few weeks we have been releasing items to help you and your club prepare for the World Handicap System which goes into effect after the first of the year.
There is no doubt in our mind that while we have a few months to prepare... if your club is not prepared, it will come in like a Lion as we get into the meat of the season. To help everyone prepare we will have an Educational Seminar on Saturday, December 7th at Dayton Country Club. The Session will start at 10am and conclude by 2pm. Lunch will be included in the $30 registration fee. To Register |

THE WORLD HANDICAP SYSTEM |
Beginning in 2020 a brand-new set of Rules for Handicapping will be introduced globally. |
Net Double Bogey. The maximum hole score for each player will be limited to a Net Double Bogey. This adjustment ismore consistent from hole to hole than the Equitable Stroke Control procedure. Net Double Bogey isalready used in many other parts of the world and the calculation is simple: Par + 2 + any handicapstrokes you receive. Top 5 Things to Know About the World Handicap System? Partner in the Spotlight |
Some of you see the logo's on the bottom of this email or on the website and look right pass them. I get that, we all do it...But there is value associated with them.
This week, we are featuring our Partnership with Affinity Travel. With the onset of cold weather it's time to start exploring how to escape to warmer climates. Being a Member of Miami Valley Golf gives you access to unpublished rates through this travel benefit.
So next time you are planning a trip I encourage you to review what Affinity has to offer.

Being Thankful |
The Thanksgiving Season brings a time of greater reflection. For golfers, it's easy to see that our sport has provided a great deal to be thankful for.
Over the last 18 months we have brought the National Youth on Course Program to our area. The programs purpose is to reduce the expense for young golfers by only charging $5 or less to play golf.
In the Miami Valley, this national program is only in use at three facilities, Heatherwoode, Reid Park and Yankee Trace. And while it served 571 junior golfers more than 2,000 rounds this past season we intend to grow throughout our service area so every junior golfer can take advantage. Upon maximum inclusion, we project annual contributions to reach $100K per year.
We need you to be a part of our goal of fully endowing this program. We ask that you Play it Forward by making a contribution through our Foundation Website or donate through our Dayton Foundation Charitable Checking Account.
We thank you for your consideration. Further questions should be directed to our Executive Director and he can be reached by calling our office at 937-294-6842 or emailing sjurick@mvgolf.org |
Historical Reflections |
We have started to refresh our Area's Golf Timeline, and like many things in life it's more about the journey then the destination. So there are a lot of things missing or even wrong.
As it's going to be too cold for most of us to play this weekend, let us know what you think needs included or corrected by sending an email to info@mvgolf.org. Enjoy the trip back in our area's golf history. Have a Look |
