Author of Freddie and Me to Speak

Ever wonder what it would be like to grow up at Augusta National Golf Club and be mentored from a very early age by the Legendary Freddie Bennett their caddie master?

Well our guest speaker did...and he wrote a wonderful book about the experience "Freddie and Me" and he his coming to share his years with Freddie at Moraine CC on Sunday, April 5th from 2-4pm, the weekend before the Masters!

Dave Miller to become the Head Professional at CCN

Dave_Miller_Photo Dave Miller will assume the Head Professional Duties at the Country Club of the North in Mid March. Dave had been the Assistant Professional at Sugar Valley for the last few years after coming back to our area from the South East. Best of Luck to Dave as he transitions to his new role.

2020 Rounds Challenge

Back by popular demand for the second season...The 2020 Season Challenge to post more rounds of golf during our active season than you did in 2019.

The Grand Prize will be a $750 Gift Certificate to the Miami Valley Golf Shop of the winners choosing.

The drawing will be held in early December. Chances for wining the Grand Prize will increase based on the number of scores posted over their 2019 total.

To be eligible you must have posted at least 5 rounds in 2019.

Ankle Mobility

The ankle is one of the most commonly overlooked areas when trying to improve mobility and flexibility. We talked about the overhead squat in a previous article, so check it out if Calf_Stretch you haven’t read it yet. Failing the overhead squat can be detrimental to your golf swing. There are two primary reasons I see golfers fail the overhead squat test - posterior chain weakness and lack of ankle mobility.

Decreased ankle mobility, specifically dorsiflexion (bringing your foot towards your head), can be a result of a number of restrictions. The most common restrictions are tightness in the calf/achilles, and restriction of the subtalar joint. We always say “Assess, Don’t Guess”, but in this case you are pretty safe to work on both issues without the risk of doing more harm. If you would like to go through an assessment, there are quick and easy tests we can take you through.

Subject #2: Number of Scores to Establish Handicap

	OLD WAY: A Handicap Index is issued to a player after five 18-hole scores are submitted and a revision takes place.
	*NEW WAY:* A Handicap Index will be issued to a player after three 18-hole scores are submitted and a revision takes place. Scores can be made up of any combination of 9-hole and 18-hole scores.
	WHY: Lowers the barrier to entry for establishing a Handicap Index. Thus, enabling as many golfers as possible the opportunity to establish and maintain a Handicap Index.

COLLEGE GOLF RECAP

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The University of Dayton men's golf team closed out play at the 2020 Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate this past Tuesday afternoon, finishing in 10th place with its score of 299-303-303=905 (+41). Junior Connor Quigley (Pictured) was the team's top finisher as he tied for 24th place overall with his score of 73-74-77=224 (+8). The Intercollegiate was played on the Arnold Palmer Signature Course at Wexford Plantation in Hilton Head at par 72 and 6,913 yards.
