Jordan Gilkison Wins the Boys DI STATE championship |
Jordan Gilkison finished off his High School Career in high style by capturing the Boys DI state championship this past weekend on the Scarlet Course at OSU Golf Club. (Read DDN Article) His rounds of 72 & 71 gave him a 3 shot win over the second place competitor from Cleveland St Ignatius, Topher Reed.
His form under pressure was exceptional, demonstrating a golf maturity not seen by many high school seniors with a great up and down on #15 for par and birdies on #16 and the home hole #18 to provide his margin of victory.
Jordan will continue his golf career at Kent State next season.
In the team championship, the girls from Mason finished 2nd and the Centerville girls finished 3rd, while the boys from Mason finished 5th.
Congratulations to all our High School golfers and thanks to all the volunteers and the families who are such a vital piece of our Junior Game.

The Last Time AUGUSTA NATIONAL HOSTED AN EVENT in the fall |
By Ward Clayton on Masters.com |
Until this year’s oddity of a fall Masters Tournament, the only competition held at the Augusta National Golf Club in the latter half of the year was decades ago, involving senior men and the eventual formation of the Senior PGA Tour.
The two-year stay of the PGA Seniors’ Championship, in November 1937 and December 1938, played a key role in the Club’s tradition of honoring distinguished veteran players — which is still evident at Augusta National today. Jock Hutchison and Fred McLeod, both native-born Scots, won their respective PGA Seniors’ titles those first two years of the championship. The pair later served together as the initial Honorary Starters at the Masters for 11 Tournaments beginning in 1963. For Rest of Story |

A NOTE ON OUR YOUTH ON COURSE PROGRAM |
One of our core beliefs at Miami Valley Golf is believing that every child deserves access to the life changing opportunities that our game can provide regardless of socioeconomic status. With that in mind, in 2018, we teamed up with Youth on Course to bring this national program to our Miami Valley area. Youth on Course members can play at participating courses for $5 or less during allotted times, after paying a small membership fee. Our foundation (Miami Valley Golf Foundation) supports this program locally by supplementing the difference in green fees to the participating facility. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic we will need additional assistance as some of our opportunity for fund raising will not be available. If possible, we encourage you to support this program. An easy online contribution can be made here.
