Ohio Junior World Info
On Monday, June 9th NCR Country Club will be hosting The 41st Annual Ohio Junior World Championship. This tournament brings Ohio’s top young golfers to the Dayton area as they compete for a chance to qualify for the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship at Torrey Pines Golf Club in San Diego, California. Boys and girls will be separated into three age divisions (11-12, 13-14 and 15-17) and each age division has a chance to qualify for the national tournament.
There will be 163 juniors playing in the event this year. The boys age 15-17 division will be playing the South Course and they will tee off between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The boys age 13-14, 11-12 and all girls divisions will be playing the North Course and they will tee off between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
A few players that played well last year will be in the field again this year. Kaden Welch of Johnstown finished fifth last year in the boys 15-17 age division with a score of 74 and he will tee off at 12:50 this year in hopes of qualifying for the national tournament this year. Miranda Green of Bellbrook shot 79 last year to finish fourth in the girls 15-17 age division. She only missed qualifying for the Torrey Pines tournament by 1 stroke. The winner of the boys 13-14 age division in 2013, Troy Taylor, of Westerville will be returning this year and will be trying to make a repeat appearance at the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship. Another division winner on the girls side, Katie Hallinan, of Loveland will be on the course Monday in hopes of defending for title for the girls 13-14 division.
The weather forecast for Monday continues to improve and we are excited to see so many young golfers playing at NCR Country Club!
