Kids Learn About The Air Force

Captain Michael Clive came out to talk to the kids today during an unseasonably cold Mentors Matters session.  The kids worked on their alignment with their irons on the range before settling down to listen to Michael after lunch.

Captain Clive is a member of the United States Air Force who generously gave up his time to meet with us today.  After getting through about half of his speech, he asked if there were any questions.  At this point, there were so many questions that he was never able to get back to his original presentation!

The main message Captain Clive had for the kids was to seriously consider joining the military services.  He explained how the Air Force paid for his college, paid for him to go to school, and now paid him a sufficient salary.  Most kids were fascinated by the fact that they could have a second career after the military while still collecting their checks.

Scott McGohan ended the day with a powerful message about being respectful during National Anthems and Captain Clive’s presence seemed to help them grasp the idea of what it actually represents.
