|Karnes Merchandiser of the Year|
Each year the SOPGA recognizes members who have demonstrated superior skills as merchandisers in the promotion of golf. Awarded in two categories (Private and Public/Municipal/Military/Semi-Private). Credit rating, community involvement, staffing, inventory, displays and merchandising techniques are some of the criteria considered for this award. Rob Karnes was selected from the more than 150 Private Clubs in the Southern Ohio Section to win the award for his Golf Shop at Dayton Country Club.
ABOUT ROB KARNES, PGA
Rob has been involved in the golf business his whole life, as his family owned and operated a 9 hole course when he was growing up. In college, Rob interned at Mohawk Golf and Country Club in Tiffin, OH and then become Assistant Professional after graduating from Heidelberg University. He moved onto Westwood Country Club in 1993 and then became the Head Golf Professional at Stonewater Golf Club in 1996. He left Stonewater in 2000 to become the Head Golf Professional at Monroe Golf and Country Club in Eastern Michigan before assuming his current position as Dayton Country Club's Head Golf Professional at the end of 2013.
As you can imagine Rob is no stranger to accomplishments and he recently became a PGA Master Professional which is a program established by the PGA of America in 1969 to recognize PGA members who make a significant effort to improve themselves as golf professionals and maintain the highest degree of excellence for themselves and their operations.
